From California to Tierra del Fuego
on a motorcycle by Glen Heggstad

Best to buy Glen's book is on his web site:
www.strikingviking.net

Finally, I met with Glen Heggstad, and I am very pleased I did. I read his book "Two wheels through terror" about his ride from California to Tierra del Fuego in 2001, but he was kidnapped by the Columbian militia for 3 weeks. When I first heard about him last month, I searched all the Barnes & Nobles of Los Angeles to find his book. Very quickly, I had a strange feeling developing about his travelling style. I remember being surprised of the cover photo of his book. It shows his motorcycle on the ground and on the back of the top case, it reads "Task Force"? I was asking myself what kind of commando thing this guy is running. Then I learn that his web site is www.strikingviking.net, what a weird name for a traveller... As I read his book, it became clear to me that we would never travel together... like the Vikings, by his attitude, he is a conquerer. For example, when he was riding through Mexico, a car did not leave him enough room and he ended up falling in a ditch and the car drove away. He put himself back on his motorcycle and chased the driver because he wanted to have a talk with him "man to man"! However, I only have respect for what he endured in Columbia and I would encourage anybody to read his book. Glen is a true adventurer, I may not agree with his style, but he also does a lot of good things!
