In 1995, , an Inca mummy named "Juanita" was discovered, after 500 years, at 19000ft
on Nevado Ampato just coated by ash melting the snow from the eruption of volcano Sabancaya nearby.
Incas belief that mountains
were gods who could kill by volcanic eruption, avalanche or climatic catastrophes.
The mountains could only be appeased by the human sacrifice of a pure human child (here a 12 years old girl).
Mummy Juanita is preserved in a glass-walled exhibition freezer at -15ºF in the Museo Catolica de Santa Maria.
